I've been looking for trim ideas and this helps a lot. :) Thank you for all your wonderful pictures!

-VeronicaA Country Victorianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10551248929367930725noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3210167177714030006.post-19124268097974926232013-04-30T15:01:20.436+01:002013-04-30T15:01:20.436+01:00Having another look at the bodice I think that you...Having another look at the bodice I think that you're spot on about the waist band. On closer examination it really does look like what was a separate belt has been sewn on to the bottom of the bodice. The stitching is quite different from the rest of the bodice. It would also as you say explain the outside-back hook, that I now realise is partially covered by the belt. I wonder if it belonged to a teenager having a growth spurt, or passed on to another member of the family. Given the amount of darning on it is was obviously well worn. Thanks for the great feedback :)Mrs Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14740362612054304263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3210167177714030006.post-74592447858552883852013-04-30T14:45:39.981+01:002013-04-30T14:45:39.981+01:00Glad you enjoyed it :)Glad you enjoyed it :)Mrs Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14740362612054304263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3210167177714030006.post-49417735396956489402013-04-30T03:05:56.282+01:002013-04-30T03:05:56.282+01:00Thank you for posting these pictures! I'm so jealous of people with personal collections, it must be lovely.

It looks to me like it was never boned, really - those darts are so clean and untampered-with. But I think the waistband could have been originally worn separately and was later sewn to the bottom of the bodice, making the outside-back hook originally in a position to take the skirt.Cassidyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03596345781746342408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3210167177714030006.post-52343424966523408512013-04-29T16:26:02.360+01:002013-04-29T16:26:02.360+01:00Thank you!
